It depends. Typically, once a person has an IgE allergy to a food, they will always react to that food, upon exposure, no matter how much time has passed since their last exposure. However, there is also evidence that a person can "outgrow" their IgE allergy. Vibrant never recommends a "food challenge" for a patient who has experienced, or been diagnosed with, an IgE reaction/allergy in the past. The best way to know if the patient is still reactive is to re-test.
Do I need to eat a food prior to Food Allergy testing to get accurate results?
