Will chemotherapy during Micronutrient test specimen collection interfere with test results?

Yes. Chemotherapy during specimen collection for Vibrant's Micronutrient test may interfere with test results if total white blood cell (WBC) count, lymphocyte count, neutrophil count, and/or total red blood cell (RBC) count is abnormal. An abnormal white blood cell count may alter white blood cell (intracellular) micronutrient test results. The Micronutrient test measures and reports total white blood cell count, neutrophil count, and lymphocyte count so ordering providers may critically interpret results. Providers may want to run a Complete Blood Count (CBC) panel prior to ordering a Micronutrient test to detect gross abnormalities in WBCs, lymphocytes, neutrophils, or RBCs.
