Why test for Tickborne co-infections along with Vibrant's Lyme panel?

Coinfections are present in a high percentage of Lyme patients and they can cause immune compromise, increase inflammatory cascade, as well as complications to effectively dealing with the Lyme. It is important to know which coinfections are present because they require different treatments. For example, Babesia is a parasite and would have a very different treatment than Bartonella which is a bacteria. Additionally, the anti-bacterial treatment of choice for Borrelia (Lyme), whether prescriptive or botanical, would not be effective against Bartonella, Anaplasma, Ehrlichia, or Rickettsia. In summary, increasing the microbes tested will increase the specificity of treatment plan development, thus, improve outcomes.
