What could high Total IgM indicate?

IgM is the first antibody be made by the body to fight a new infection. Therefore, high levels of IgM can indicate a new infection is present. High levels of IgM are also associated with IgM monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS), Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia, early viral hepatitis, mononucleosis, rheumatoid arthritis, kidney damage (nephrotic syndrome), and parasite infection.
