The AA/EPA ratio can be elevated if EPA is too low, if AA is too high, or both.
Treatment goals should be targeted at lowering AA and increasing EPA.
A high EPA fish oil formula should be considered to increase EPA.
A low arachidonic acid diet should be considered to lower AA.
Additionally, assess supplemental Omega 3-6-9 formulas as they often contain GLA (from borage, black currant, evening primrose, or hemp) which can be converted to arachidonic acid.
