No, Vibrant does not measure amylase or lipase, but does measure pancreatic elastase-1 (PE-1) in the Gut Zoomer.
PE-1 is a marker for pancreatic enzyme function, similar to amylase and lipase. PE-1 helps break down fats, proteins, and carbohydrates.
If little or no elastase is found in the stool, it can mean that the pancreas can't make and/or release enough elastase and other digestive juices. This is called exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, or EPI for short, and may require pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy.
