What is the difference between the fecal zonulin (on Vibrant's Gut Zoomer) and serum zonulin (on Vibrant's Wheat Zoomer)?

Fecal zonulin and serum zonulin exist in different compartments (stool versus blood, respectively).

Additionally, markers associated with intestinal permeability only include fecal zonulin IgA on the stool test, whereas the serum test assesses for

  • Zonulin - which shows a snapshot of the level at the time of testing and
  • Anti-zonulin IgG and Anti-zonulin IgA - looks at zonulin's activity over a certain time period
