Should middle of the night urine collections be done?

It is generally recommended to collect the first morning urine. The Hormone Zoomer is a 4-tube urine collection test designed to assess cortisol, cortisone, and melatonin levels over a 24-hour period to provide insight into their diurnal curves.

The standard collection times are as follows:

  • 1st Morning (before 9 AM)
  • 2nd Morning (2 hours after waking)
  • Evening, before dinner (around 5 PM)
  • Night, before bed (around 8 PM-11 PM)

If the provider wanted to assess middle-of-the-night hormone levels, Vibrant does not provide a fifth collection tube for measuring middle-of-the-night hormone levels.

If a provider chooses to collect the fourth (night) sample in the middle of the night instead of at the standard bedtime window (~10 PM), this is at their clinical discretion. However, they should interpret the results accordingly.
