What evidence supports IgG-guided elimination diets

2010 -  Testing for Food Reactions: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Perhaps the best starting place in the review of food reactions testing is this study by Mullin, et al. (2010). This review compared various food reaction tests, noting IgE testing as the gold standard for allergies. IgG testing showed clinical promise for guiding elimination diets with meaningful impact on several conditions.

2011 – Migraine-Like Headaches
"Use of the ELISA test with subsequent diet elimination advice did not reduce the disability or impact on daily life of migraine like headaches or the number of migraine like headaches at 12 weeks but it did significantly reduce the number of migraine like headaches at 4 weeks."

2012 – Migraine + IBS
“Our findings indicate that food elimination based on IgG antibodies in migraine patients who suffer from concomitant IBS may effectively reduce symptoms from both disorders with possible positive impact on the quality of life of the patients as well as potential savings to the health-care system.”

2013 – IBS
“These data demonstrate that identifying and appropriately addressing food sensitivity in IBS patients not previously responding to standard therapy results in a sustained clinical response and impacts on overall well being and quality of life in this challenging entity.”

2017 – Mental Health
"What is clear is that restoration and maintenance of healthy intestinal, and blood brain, barriers, and the composition of the gut microbiota, are key to improved health, and dietary changes based on IgG-guided elimination diet show promise as a viable intervention strategy.” Early findings are most focused on gluten, dairy, yeast, and wheat.

2018 – Sports Performance
Athletes following IgG-guided elimination diets reported improved performance, body composition, and cognitive function. One study also showed weight loss, reduced blood pressure, and improved quality of life in overweight individuals.

2019 – Migraine + IBS with Probiotics
Combining IgG-guided elimination diets with probiotics improved outcomes in patients with migraine and IBS, suggesting potential synergistic effects.

2021 – Mixed IBS (IBS-M)
“Based on the results of this open study it was found that the different dietary intervention in the treatment of patients with IBS-M was unlikely effective. The G2-IP IgG based elimination rotation-diet demonstrating a significant overall superior result compared to the others.”

2024 – Personalized Food Elimination Diet

A personalized elimination diet based on Vibrant's Food Sensitivity test improved IgG levels in 96% and IgA levels in 85% of participants. Patients reported reduced symptoms, improved antibody titers, and favorable physician assessments, supporting the effectiveness of targeted elimination diets.
