How will Tamoxifen use impact Hormone Zoomer and Cortisol Awakening Response results?

Tamoxifen has not been specifically tested for analytical interference with the Hormone Zoomer urinary hormone panel or the optional saliva Cortisol Awakening Response Panel.

However, based on Tamoxifen’s mechanism of action as a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM), it may theoretically influence estrogens (E1, E2, E3), estrogen metabolite levels, and estrogen ratios. Additionally, while tamoxifen's effect is primarily related to its role as a SERM, it could theoretically indirectly affect cortisol and cortisone levels by altering hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis signaling or hepatic cortisol metabolism.

In summary, while no direct analytical interference is expected, Tamoxifen’s pharmacologic modulation of estrogen receptors and hepatic metabolism may lead to physiological changes/biologic effects reflected in urinary and salivary hormone measurements. Interpretation should consider the medication’s known endocrine effects.

All Hormone Zoomer and Cortisol Awakening Panel results should be interpreted in the context of the patient’s clinical presentation, including medical history, symptoms, and other relevant clinical findings. Correlation with clinical information is essential to ensure accurate assessment and appropriate patient management.
