Agent Orange, a herbicide used during the Vietnam War, contains components such as 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T), 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), and the contaminant 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD).
Vibrant Wellness Environmental Toxins Herbicides Panel measures 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D). Vibrant does not measure 2,4,5-T or TCDD.
The severe health effects (cancer, birth defects) attributed to Agent Orange are largely linked to the dioxin (TCDD) contaminant found in 2,4,5-T, not in 2,4-D itself.
