What tests are recommended for hair loss/alopecia?

Please consider the following,

  • Micronutrient 3.0: to assess all vitamins, minerals, antioxidants AAs, FAs which may be contributing to hair loss
  • Wheat Zoomer: gluten might worsen alopecia areata by enhancing the Th2 immune response and has been found to enhance Th17-mediated skin inflammation.
  • Gut Zoomer: to assess gut microbiome-skin microbiome connection
  • Complete Food Sensitivity: assess sensitivities that may be contributing to collapse of immune privilege and link to autoimmune alopecia
  • IGF-1: which may be linked to alopecia due to role in hair growth cycle
  • Human growth hormone (HGH): Not tested at Vibrant
  • Autoimmune Zoomer
    • Thyroid autoimmunity markers: Alopecia areata has a strong clinical link to autoimmune thyroid diseases like Hashimoto's and Graves' disease. The Autoimmune Zoomer tests for the following antibodies:
      • Thyroglobulin (TG)
      • Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO)
      • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Receptor (TSHR)
    • Other general autoimmune or inflammation markers: While not specific to alopecia, heightened immune response or systemic inflammation, which is common in many autoimmune diseases, including alopecia areata.
      • Antinuclear Antibodies (ANA): A positive ANA can suggest a systemic autoimmune disease but is not specific to alopecia.
      • Extractable Nuclear Antigens (ENA): These include a panel of antibodies often associated with conditions like lupus, which can also cause hair loss.
