Critical Readout Authorized Contacts allows users to designate approved contacts who can receive critical lab result notifications on behalf of the ordering provider. This helps ensure time-sensitive critical readouts are routed to an authorized member of the care team when the ordering provider cannot be reached.
When to Use Critical Readout Authorized Contacts
Use this setting to manage contacts who may receive critical result readouts when:
- The ordering provider is unavailable.
- The practice wants to establish a defined backup contact process.
- A care team member has been approved to receive critical lab notifications on behalf of the ordering provider.
How to Manage Authorized Contacts
Navigate to the appropriate practice or provider settings area in the portal. Under General Preferences, locate Critical Readout Authorized Contacts.
Add the contact information for the approved individual and save changes.
All authorized contacts will be displayed in this section. If you need to edit any information or remove a contact, you can do so with the buttons on the right side of the contact name.
Important Notes
- Critical Readout Authorized Contacts should only include individuals approved by the practice to receive critical lab result notifications.
- Adding a contact authorizes that individual to receive critical readouts on behalf of the ordering provider.
- Practices should review authorized contacts regularly to ensure the list remains accurate.
